Choosing Your Friends Wisely

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be  _______. -Proverbs 13:20

Fill in the blank. If you don’t remember the above verse very well, it may come as a surprise to you.

First off, it says that a person that walks with wise men shall be wise. That makes sense. So then to extrapolate and guess at the next part of the verse, it would stand to reason that it would say something to the effect of: a companion of fools shall be foolish. If being around wise men helps make one wise, it would make sense that being around foolish people would make one foolish.

Look at what it actually says:

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. -Proverbs 13:20

That is a very serious warning. Foolish friends can literally destroy your life. Consider this the next time you’re out with a group of people, and you’re considering who to talk with, and who to avoid.
